"The Future of Cement" - Symposium Paris 2017

The symposium 

"The Future of Cement"  will both celebrate the 200-year anniversary of the discovery of the laws of cement hydraulicity by Louis Vicat and the vitality of an industrial key player in society’s significant evolutions.

An international symposium focused on cement : research, development and concrete applications

Held in the UNESCO building – a major work of concrete architecture in itself - this international symposium offers the opportunity for academic and industrial research staff as well as professionals from the cement industry or from other construction sectors to brush up on cement innovation.

Program

Experts from all over the world will present :

• the evolution of the material through the prisms of engineering, science and architecture
• promising leads in fundamental research to improve cement composition
• optimised environmental performances in the industrial process
• first results in collaborative research programs, concerning recycling in particular
• unusual contributions of concrete to sustainable development
• … and other illustrations of the latest evolutions in cement and concrete.

The FIB, a new sponsor

The French cement industry and its main technical association ATILH are honoured to welcome the fib(International Federation for Structural Concrete) among the sponsors for the “Future of Cement”.

The International Federation for Structural Concrete is a non-for-profit organisation with 43 national member groups, about 1000 individual or corporate members in about 65 countries. Its main objective is advancing the technical, economic, aesthetic and environmental performances of concrete construction through scientific and practical studies.

“The Future of cement” is part of its corollary : the dissemination of the research results through publications (guidelines, design & construction recommendations,…) or the organisation and promotion of conferences or symposium.

Call for posters - Closed on 28 February 2017

For this international symposium, abstracts will be in English and must concern ongoing projects or those near completion. Submit your abstract on one of the topics below.

• 1. Modern cement manufacture (waste recovery, grinding, clinker burning, energy efficiency, carbon capture, …)
• 2. Innovative cement compositions (mechanisms, properties, applications)
• 3. Smart concrete (self-cleaning, reflective, luminescent, …) - sustainable applications (renewable energies : transmission, storage – eco-design in buildings - safety by design,…)

Le Sympsium "The futur of cement"

Paris. 6-8 juin 2017. L’association technique de l’industrie cimentière française, l’ATILH, et la Commission nationale française pour l’UNESCO vous invitent à un symposium scientifique international, parrainé par l’Académie des sciences, l’Académie des technologies et la Fédération Internationale du Béton : The Future of Cement.

Un symposium international dédié au ciment : recherche, développement et applications béton

Le symposium « The Future of Cement » vient célébrer les 200 ans de la découverte des lois régissant l’hydraulicité du ciment par Louis Vicat et exprimer la vitalité d’une industrie toujours partie prenante des évolutions majeures de notre société.

Organisé à l’UNESCO – lieu emblématique de l’architecture en béton - le symposium "The Future of Cement" proposera aux équipes des centres de recherche universitaires ou industriels, aux professionnels cimentiers et des autres métiers de la construction, d’approfondir leurs connaissances sur les innovations relatives au ciment.

Programme

Le symposium "The Future of Cement" propose un panel de conférences, animées par des experts venus du monde entier sur :

• l’évolution du matériau, à travers les prismes de l’ingénierie, de la science et de l’architecture
• les pistes de recherche fondamentale pour améliorer la composition du ciment
• l’optimisation des performances environnementales du process industriel
• les premiers retours de programmes de R&D collaboratifs, notamment sur le recyclage
• des exemples originaux de contributions du béton au développement durable
• d’autres sujets illustrant les dernières évolutions du ciment et du béton.

La FIB, un nouveau sponsor

L’industrie cimentière française et son organisation technique, l’ATILH, ont l’honneur d’accueillir la fib (Fédération Internationale du Béton) parmi les sponsors de cet évènement.

La fib (Fédération Internationale du Béton) est une association composée de 63 organisations nationales, quelques 1000 sociétés ou membres individuels, réparties dans environ 65 pays.

Son objectif principal est d’encourager la recherche scientifique et appliquée pour développer les performances techniques, économiques, esthétiques et environnementales de la construction en béton.

« The Future of Cement » fait partie de la mission corollaire : diffuser les résultats à travers diverses publications (guides, recommandations, etc.) et l’organisation ou la promotion de congrès et autres symposiums.

Dans le cadre d’un symposium international, ces abstracts seront en anglais et concerneront des projets en cours ou presque aboutis. Soumettez votre abstract sur un des thèmes suivant :

• 1. Modernisation de la fabrication du ciment (valorisation des déchets, broyage, cuisson du clinker, efficacité énergétique, piégeage du carbone, …)
• 2. Compositions innovantes de ciments : mécanismes, propriétés, applications
• 3. Béton futé (autonettoyant, réfléchissant, luminescent, …) – applications durables (énergies renouvelables : production, stockage ; écoconception des bâtiments ; sécurité intégrée, …)
